Number Three Son has just arrived home with his GCSE results – he passed all twelve at C or above!!!!
Congratulations – we knew you could do it
As I was walking through the hall this morning I noticed a really tiny shoe on top of the bookcase. At first glance it looked like it might be a relic from the days when the Bloglets were into Action Man but on closer inspection I realised it was too small even for him to squeeze his tootsies into. So, I’m mystified about it’s origins. I suspect it may be the work of Number Two Son who has departed for the Leeds festival and who would find it amusing to think of his family spending several days pondering over the source of tiny items of footwear.
Glennia from The Silent I has joined the ranks of podcasters, and contributes to an online radio broadcast, Career Mom Radio . . . go and have a listen, she does a great job. I found her contribution particularly interesting because she addresses the issue of working mums vs stay at home mums, or more specifically the way mothers often feel the need to compete and justify their own choice by dismissing the alternative. It’s sad that so many women feel like this because neither option is easy and it would be better if we pulled together and supported each rather than allowing ourselves to become segregated.
Oh, and did you know cows have regional accents? You know it’s funny somone has mentioned this because I’m sure the ones over the road say ‘moo bye eck’

I did a silly thing last night. I stayed up really late reading – then woke up in a flap early this morning because we had forgotten to take the bin out and the bin men were due. They seem to have settled on Tuesday as a permanent collection day after their phase of turning up whenever they felt like it. However, they like to arrive early, really early, so it’s best to get the bin out the night before. By the time I had managed to make myself presentable – well at least in the sense that I wasn’t going to be arrested for indecency or vagrancy – and dragged the wretched thing out into the street, I really didn’t feel like going back to bed. So I have been knackered all day.
The book I was reading was good though, I’ll tell you more about it another day because I still have a chapter to go.
Other Stuff
I made the following sign at the Church Sign Generator

Yes, I know I’m a very bad girl and I’ll never get to heaven. Actually that is probably for the best, I would only get thrown out for starting a protest to demand more comfortable wings or central heating for my cloud.
I leave you with a joke. I remembered this after I made a comment about The Stranglers over on that other blog I post things to (this one) This may go over the head of anyone too young to remember the 80s, but here goes anyway:
Hugh Cornwall and Jean Jacques Burnell (members of the band) go into a newsagent to buy a paper. Hugh is looking for the Guardian but he can’t see a copy, the same goes for the Indie and the Times. So, he decides to venture into the realm of the tabloids and looks for a copy of the Mirror, but they have all gone too.
“Bugger, I can’t find any of the papers I like to read” he moans
“Never mind” says JJ “There’s always the Sun”
Hello Dear Reader
I want to begin by letting you know I haven’t forgotten about the idea of doing more podcats, in fact I am planning one for later this week. I thought, I would make them a weekly event, because not all posts are really suitable for the medium. So, I would like you to let me know what kind of things you would like to see covered, I have a few ideas, and I have found a site where I can access what is known as podsafe music. (In other words, music that you can freely use in podcasts.) However, any ideas will be greatfully accepted, so if there is something you would like me to cover, or anything you would like to contribute either leave a comment below, or email me – the address is in the sidebar. Thank you!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
One night last week, I was listening to a radio phone-in which covered the subject of what callers had wanted to be when they grew up. It was quite sad to hear the grand schemes people had at 8 or 10 or 12, none of which had come to fruition. Very few contributors had actually gone on to realise their childhood dreams, and I suppose this logical, the world only needs so many astronauts or mountain climbers, and as far as I tell there aren’t many openings for super-heroes.
As a very young child I wanted to be an explorer and discover a new land. Then, I got older and realised that everywhere had been found, and exploring was pretty much a case of filling in the dots on pre-existing maps. I suppose I could have done that, but knowing that Columbus, Marco Polo and co. got there first would have dampened the excitement somewhat – curse those pesky discoverers of new worlds.
BTW, my ambition now is to become Nanny Ogg.
Other Stuff:
Did you know MFI is likely to change hands for £1 ? Hmm, that’s not much for such a large company – maybe I should offer £1.10 and a couple of paper clips. I suppose that would just start a bidding war, and eventually people would be offering ridiculously large amounts, perhaps as much as £3.50 and a whole packet of photo-copying paper!
