Apparently, this was my most played track on LastFM for the whole of 2008. Oddly, Sweet Home Alabama came in third, which was a surprise because I didn't realise I liked it that much.
Before I go - is anyone watching Demons? Is it me, or does Philip Glenister sound like he is doing a really bad impression of Horatio from CSI Miami?
PS: Yes, bestest is a word. If you can have greatest and mostest, why not bestest?

ReplyDeleteI´m really surprised that Sweet Home Alabama came third... that´s was not expected because ALL I HEARD for months on end was that song!!! I hope there is nothing similar in 2009.. LEAVE ORIGINAL SONGS ALONE!

Anna: Umm, I was referring to the original Sweet Home Alabama, didn't know there was cover.

I'm here to be a spoil sport and say you can't have mostest as most is the amount above which there can be no more (many, more, most). Which makes no sense as we have Great, greater and greatest.
ReplyDeleteHowever it's your blog so you abuse English any way you want. Everyone else does (me too).
LOVE Solsbury Hill. Its going to be in my head all night now.
ReplyDeleteDemons - I suspect contractual shoehorning - Mr Glenister's American accent is so incredibly painful.
I've always liked Peter Gabriel; very imaginative music and videos alike. I actually hadn't heard this tune before, which shows how out of touch I am. I have to admit, I kind of like Sweet Home Alabama; not something I'd buy but ok when it comes on the radio. Very catchy guitar riffs :-)
ReplyDeleteMatt: If you think about it, language is constantly evolving, so we aren't abusing it, just reorganising it somewhat.
ReplyDeleteCheryl: I think you are right about contractual shoehorning, it's the only logical explanation. When I first heard about the series I wondered if it might be just Gene Hunt, vampire slayer, which sounded awful but would have been preferable to the character he actually does play.
ReplyDeleteLiam: You've never heard Solsbury Hill? It's quite old, 70s, I think and is about a
ReplyDeletereal hill.
I've always liked Sweet Home Alabama, but I would never have thought I'd like it quite that much LOL It is a catchy tune though, and I know all the words which is quite unusual - usually, I have to fill in gaps with my own lyrics.
